We are celebrating being mid-way between the longest night / shortest day of winter solstice and spring equinox / when it is equal day and night. Have you noticed how it's getting lighter all the time!? The birds are singing more, the earth is warming up and bulbs are sprouting their pretty heads?! Spring is starting to be in the air which is so SO exciting! Time to get outside, what birds can you spot & hear, start planning your gardens!!! Start digging, adding compost & manure, write a list of what you'll grow, order the seeds and be excited about the growing season ahead! Plant broad bean seeds. Send me pictures and plans and lists for your gardens. Happy Imbolc! 🤗 On Tuesday it was the celebration of Imbolc, which literally means 'in the belly,' it is the mid point between winter solstice & spring equinox, for some it marks the end of winter, for others the start of spring, for me it feels like the first tiny sprouts on seed of potential in the start of a new year 💘 There are pregnancies for wildlife and sproutings of flora to celebrate. In a sense there is no right or wrong with meaning, more important is developing your own relationship with nature and feeling what does it mean to you!? Can you make a poster, bit of writing or drawing of what you'd like to celebrate? You could go for a lovely long walk in the forest first, the sun is shining, the moon is out, the sky is blue! Birds are tweeting, what can you hear? On Tuesday / Imbolc, as I drove through misty fields, with the sun breaking through clouds & spreading blue, it felt like the earth was breathing out beautiful warmth. While we may still have much coldness ahead I could feel the first gatherings of earths warmth. The birds were bursting with sweet joy and mama nature is waking up with adornments of snow drops, aconites and catkins 🧡💛💚💙💜
