Here at Snape we want to instill a love of learning in all our children so that they can go into the world with enthusiasm and curiosity. We also believe, particularly in this day and age, that our children need to develop a range of learning skills and attitudes to see them through life. In our ever changing world they could be doing jobs that we haven't thought of yet, accessing information from a range of sources that haven't been invented yet SO we believe resilience and being OK with finding things tricky and TRYING AGAIN is one of the most important aspects of education we can deliver at Snape.
We aim to give children experience through a whole range of activities that are often interwoven because we don't often learn in distinct subjects. We tend to teach basic skills like writing, calculation, reading in the morning because we find we can capture concentration better BUT as we teach through our themes this isn't always the case. We might be writing for history projccts such as finding out what life was like as a Victorian child labourer and keeping a diary as that Victorian child....obviously this covers writing and history skills too. We follow the 2014 National Curriculum ( see below in a link) AND you can also see how we teach our themes to make sure we are covering the correct aspects of that National Curriculum. Click on KS1 or KS2 and you will see topics such as Exploring the Amazon.
Take a look at the documents and then look at our photographs to see how we make Snape learning exciting on our learning adventure together.

We run a variety of clubs to give our children opportunities to explore and experience even MORE learning with us and because teachers enjoy learning too. This TERM we are running STEM CLUB, GYMNASTICS CLUB AND A MULTI SPORTS CLUB.. This changes according to the seasons and also what the children might like to explore more.
See below to find out what your child will learn in KS1+KS2

Do you recognise any of the people in the pictures. They are very influential people in our area. One of them has her name on a special plaque in our school hall. We learn about how and why these three people are important to Snape.
We have some wonderful ideas for our 50 things for SNAPE CHILDREN to do before they're 11 3/4. We are only in need of about 15 more so if you have any ideas let us know by chatting to us OR filling in the form on this page.

AS YOU CAN IMAGINE MUSIC IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US. Children have the chance to learn the violin with us from Yr 1 up with our visiting Violin teacher AND we also teach recorders and ukulele too.
